I know I haven't blogged in a while...

but I haven't really had anything interesting to write about... haven't really been racing and training is off and on thanks to some intestinal problem that rear's it's ugly head every time I start to gain a little momentum in training. I've been real busy trying to figure this out... anyways, I finally got a good story...

It all starts with 3 letters, ADT... I'm at work and I usually don't answer my phone at work. I get a couple of missed calls when finally it rings again and, figuring it's something important, I answer it. Yea, it was important... ADT called to let me know that the alarm in my apartment went off. My roommate is the primary caller on ADT's account, I was surprised to get the call... he was out of town, so I was next on the list. It was cool, I chatted with the dispatcher and she told me the police had been contacted and she had talked to the complex and they said the alarm was set off by a maintenance man. I told her I would be there in ten minutes, so I jet over and talk to the maintenance guy and reset the alarm. I hung out for a second and no cops showed up, I needed to get back to work and took off. After work, I was beat after an early morning ride, work, and the whole ADT bit and looking forward to firing up the grill and having a little barbeque. I made my salad then cruised out to the garage to pull out the grill and get some chicken going. Life was good, I was hungry after really watching what I've been eating the past several days and looking forward to a good barbeque. I cranked the propane up and as soon as I pulled my head out from underneath the grill I was greeted by a cop. I think we were both confused, he was on the offensive while I was a little defensive while I tried to figure out what was going on. Basically this cop asked if I live here, and I of course said; yea... I was thinking "wow, dude you're late"... He then asks me if I have any I.D. on me, I say "yea, let me go grab it for you..." and that was greeted with a defensive "HOLD IT"... about then I figured out what was going on. Now, I'm not on the lease and my drivers license has my parents address on it, not to mention all my bills get sent to my parents house as well, so I have no mail with my name on it to this address... no way to prove I indeed live here... I try to explain to this cop that my roommate (who is on the lease) is up in Acton and all I have to do is call him and he'll come down and verify who I am... it fell upon deaf ears and he proceeded to cuff me and put me in the back of his patrol car... I couldn't beleive this, I wasn't sure whether I should be pissed or bust out laughing in disbeleif. Then the cop, asks if anyone's inside and I said "no"... then this guy makes sure by asking if my roomate is inside and I said "no, he's in acton... please give him a call..." then he tells me, I better be sure because if he see's anyone in there he's going to shoot them... I'm thinking "this guy's having a rough day" and say "I'm sure"... I'm thinking, this is lame... this cop won't listen to a word I say and throws me in cuffs. At some point, someone was trying to tell him the alarm went off over 4hrs ago and the cop proceeded to say "it's not from that"... leaving me wondering "what's going on?"... Eventually, another cop showed up and between checking to make sure the car in the garage was mine and the keys to the car had the keys to the apartment on them we straightened things out. Meanwhile, the first cop takes off and I'm chatting with second cop while he checks to see when the call came in and guess what... it came in at 1:30 pm... that was when the maintenance guy set off the alarm, they just showed up late. Crazy day, at least it ended on positive note and I still got to barbeque... I think I will end my crazy day at that...

Dude ... "Protect & Server"? ... serve what?

Too bad the cops in your town don't have the same passion about finding a$$holes that T-Bone cars & split ...

4 hours for the cops to respond to an ADT alarm ... sounds like the alarm service is a waste of money where you live.

I'll bet if you had a box of doughnuts instead of a steak for the bbq ... all would have worked out much easier ...

:)
