Omloop Het Volk

Yup... I'm going to race that tomorrow... It's gonna be tough, lots of rolling climbs and cobbles. If I can get through the climbs in the main group and conserve as much energy as posssible I think I can do alright. It seems like the races I have been doing these last couple weeks are a bit harder than what I was doing... I think that is where I am doing myself in... I still have this mindset that I can attack like I was in the earlier races I was doing and get right on that ragged edge and be able to recover in the peleton. There is no recovering in some of these harder races if you happen to shoot your wad just before the peleton decides to drill it. At Waver, I went in with the mindset of just trying to finish... so for the first hour and a half I sat in and sagged climbed a little bit and by the time we hit the finish circuit everyone was hammered from attacking and drilling it in the crosswind and cobbled sections. That's when the real strong guys started making their moves and I was fresh enough to go with them. I think I need to take a step back for some of these races and go back into survival mode... These races go extremely hard when they go hard, but if you can save enough energy for that moment so you can get yourself near the front to avoid gaps it's not that bad. I think that will be the plan... or all that will go out the window and my job will be to take care of summerhill as long as I can...
