The last couple weeks I had been having what seemed like off and on asthma problems... I kind of brushed it off for a week or so, thinking it would go away once my allergies subsided. The last couple days, since the weekends racing, things have gotten worse. I've been having alot of pain in my chest every time I breath, can't get in the drops and still breath, and can't eat while riding... I rode about 4 hrs yesterday and felt terrible the whole time. I decided it was time to visit a doctor and see about getting a test or something done saying I'm asthmatic and can use an inhaler during times like these. I have an inhaler to use for emergency's, but with doping control, I don't dare take it unless it truly is a medical emergency. Right now, it is just keeping me from sleeping, training, and racing properly... That's not good, seeing as I am here to train and race... The problem is, I have yet to get a doctors note saying I have asthma and can legally use an inhaler. I may have this problem one day out of so many years in the states, so I never really thought about getting a test done saying I need to be allowed to use an inhaler if need be. I won't risk a positive test, that can stick with you longer than suffering for a couple weeks...
Anyways, so I went to the doctor and he diagnosed me with Bronchitis... Which I wasn't too surprised to hear. I ended up with that in France and have been feeling kind of the same way... I just let it go much longer to the point that I needed to take weeks off the bike. This time I caught it early enough to only take 3 days off the bike and do a 3 day antibiotic regiment. I kind of think there must be some link between asthma and this bronchitis thing seeing as this happened in the past and maybe the rain that has been present in the last 3 or 4 races and almost all the training rides in between... I could for sure feel more fatigue in my body than normal this last week... We'll see where I'm at in a few days...
J signing off...
