A 4 day weekend and some time off the bike, brought a new coffee bar to the complex!

The coffee bar idea all started last semester when we snagged some old furniture from this old hotel that was being cleared out. The furniture was in pretty bad shape with water damage, what looked like bullet holes in the chairs, and pieces of wood and paint missing. We never found the time last semester to fix any of this stuff, so it sat in the storage room for almost a year waiting to be resurrected. With my season grinding to an unexpected halt (well, it was coming... just was kind of ignoring the signs for a while) on Thursday and a 4 day weekend ahead of us, Tiff and I got busy...

We moved all the bikes into an over sized closet and the bike room to make some extra space for our lounge. Tiff reupholstered the scrappy chairs with some pleather we got on sale...
I took a bunch of old race numbers and stuck them on a table and lacquered over them. This one proved to be trickier than anticipated due to the home depot guy giving me some bad advice on polyurethane... no matter what anyone tells you, it is not sticky and will not hold down things such as racing numbers... plus it turns them yellow... It didn't turn out to be what I had in mind, but it's close enough...

and here's the bar with much more room to add newspaper articles and such...
